Bike week came and went and once again it was freezing! Mrs P came with us this time to 'break her duck' and see what the fuss was all about. This was probably my favorite bike at the event.
And this was probably the best way to be served a beer...
The Beast is no more. It's been traded for this 'little' honey.....
The front passenger wheel bearing was shot on the the Jeep (along with the CV joint) and would have been about $200 in parts for me to fix it. Given that the rear axle needed a complete rebuild and the transfer case was trashed we decided that it wasn't worth repairing. After all why sink $2000+ in to car that's only worth $3500?
Let's get the technical bits out of the way...It's a Ford Expedition Eddie Bauer spec with a 5.4L V8 300hp engine. It seats 7 altogether, two in the front, two in the center in Captain's chairs and 3 in the 3rd row. It's got leather interior and power just about everthing including power pedals and powered 3rd row seating, indash navigation, yadd yadda yadda. Believe it or not it's more economical than the Beast. I've been getting 16 mpg as opposed to 13 in the Jeep and the Ford runs on regular rather than the Beast's more expensive Super unleaded. So all in all I'm 3 mpg and 30 cents a gallon better off. It will have paid for itself in no time....
